In OLÉ! we produce and export the varieties Galia and Yellow, in total 4.500 tones per year and 200 hectares for its growing.

91% of the composition of this fruit is water, and due to its moderate contents of sugar, it contains low calories.

SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION:

It has a big amount of beta carotene, which has antioxidant properties.

Its cleaning properties are beneficial for the detoxification of the skin, offering protection from microbial agents, which may affect it producing unwanted stains or allergies.

As a laxative on an empty stomach, it is a good measure to remove the intestinal parasites from the body, helping at the same time the constant regulation of the flora. Likewise, eating melon after a generous meal can help the functioning of the digestive tract, being its relaxing properties on the stomach and the colon of a great importance for the best functioning of this system and the balance that must exist in the ingestion of meals.

 

 

Something that few people may know is that melon contains salts, which have a direct and positive repercussion on the process of circulation as these elements help to improve the activity of the red corpuscles, enhancing noticeably the increase of the hemoglobin. Melon can be used to fight effectively symptoms such us constipation, gout and rheumatism, because the said salts help at the same time the effective constitution of the bone tissues.

It is also used by patients with problems of hypertension, as it can regulate the heart activity, thus assuring a better life quality.

RECIPES

 

 

COLD SOUP OF MELON AND MINT:

 

 

MELON LIQUOR:

Ingredients:
- 1 big melon (some 2 kilos).
- 100 cc olive oil.
- Strained lemon juice (2 lemons).
- A bunch of mint.
- A pinch of ground pepper.
- Some tabasco drops (optional).

Preparation:

1. Cut off the top of the melon and dice it, then mix it with the leaves of mint and the rest of the ingredients in a bowl to beat.
2. Gently beat the mix with the mixer.
3. If the mix is too thick, add some water.
4. Strain the mix.

Presentation and tasting:

Serve very cold in individual bowls and decorate with some leaves of mint. It can also be served with croutons.


- One melon.
- Three spoons of sugar.
- A pinch of ground cinamon
- Some leaves of mint.
- A small glass of white rum.

For the presentation:

- Some leaves of mint.
- Stick cinnamon.
- The rind of the melon.

Preparation:

1. Cut the melon in two pieces and remove the seeds, bearing in mind that the rind of the melon will be used for its presentation, so this will have to be kept in the fridge once empty.
2. Add to the pulp of the melon the rest of ingredients and beat it with the mixer. Once beated, the mix will be kept in the fridge until it is iced.

Presentation:

Pour the mix in the empty rind of the melon and decorate with some leaves of mint and some sticks of cinnamon. Serve in shoot glasses.
